A PRACTICAL GUIDE

Using the PPC assessment.

What does the full assessment tell you?

Google Ads and Facebook Ads explore campaign knowledge. Google Analytics checks understanding of website measurement, while Numerical Reasoning explores how candidates interpret figures. Together, the four tests show where advertising knowledge and analytical ability meet.

How can you use the results?

Review each test against your vacancy’s responsibilities. A strong paid search result can sit alongside a gap in analytics, so use the separate scores to focus your interview. Follow up with a short campaign brief: ask candidates to explain their budget choices, measurement plan and next steps.

Which results matter for your vacancy?

  • Paid search campaignsUse Google Ads results to explore campaign structure, keyword choices and targeting. Ask how they would organise a campaign around your goals.
  • Paid social campaignsUse Facebook Ads results to discuss audience targeting and campaign setup. Follow up on how they would test different audiences and creative.
  • Measurement and reportingUse Google Analytics results to explore how they interpret visitor data and connect website activity to campaign performance.
  • Budgets and performanceUse Numerical Reasoning results to focus questions about cost per lead, conversion rates and changes in spend. Ask them to explain the figures behind a recommendation.

BEFORE YOU START

Your questions, answered.

What if this PPC role focuses on just one channel?

The template includes Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Google Analytics and Numerical Reasoning. Keep the tests that match your vacancy. For a paid search role, you might remove Facebook Ads; for a paid social role, you might remove Google Ads. You can change the selection before inviting candidates.

Does it test campaign knowledge or hands-on work?

The four tests use multiple-choice questions to explore advertising knowledge, website measurement and numerical reasoning. Candidates do not build a live campaign or work inside your advertising accounts. Add a short campaign brief if you want to see how they apply their knowledge.

Why include Numerical Reasoning in a PPC assessment?

PPC work involves budgets, percentages and performance figures. Numerical Reasoning helps you explore how candidates interpret numbers alongside their advertising knowledge. Use it to focus follow-up questions about cost per lead, conversion rates and changes in spend.

How long does the full PPC assessment take?

The recommended 4-test selection allows 40 minutes in total. Candidates complete the tests online. Removing or adding tests, or adjusting the time allowance, can change the total.

Can I see paid search and paid social results separately?

Yes. You receive a separate result for each included test, so you can compare Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Google Analytics and Numerical Reasoning individually. Review the areas your vacancy needs most, then explore strengths and gaps in the interview. View the sample report.
