CHOOSING AND USING YOUR ASSESSMENT
Testing candidates in their own language
Why the test language matters, how to choose it, and how to compare results.
Why test in the candidate’s own language?
If the job does not depend on English, an English-only test can end up measuring reading in a second language as much as the skill you care about. Testing in the language the person will work in gives you a clearer view of the skill itself.
Choosing the right language
Use the language the job is done in. For a role in Madrid that works in Spanish, allow Spanish. For an international role that works in English, English may be the right choice, even for candidates whose first language is different.
Comparing candidates across languages
Every result shows the language the candidate used. Where you can, compare candidates who took the same test in the same language, and treat small differences between languages with care.
